I Love Mondays {especially when it's Tuesday!} - DIY wedding details

Happy Tuesday! Due to a spotty internet connect yesterday and most of today, I was forced to write about how much I love Mondays - especially when it's already Tuesday! Don't you just love when you think it's one day of the week, and it turns out to be another?

Today I want to talk about some of the fun DIY trends that are popping up everwhere in the wedding world. There are many websites dedicated to DIY (Do-it-Yourself) crafts and projects, here are a few of my favorites:

Labels, labels, labels! These lemonade bottles are really fun. How cute would it be to have these lined up and use them as placecards for each guest?

I love these fun flags - they really set the tone for a celebration!

DIY flag bunting is one of my favorite trends - the uses are endless - perfect for the imaginative bride.

One of my very, very favorites - stripey straws! You can use them to convey a message, such as "Thank you for being here," or use them as placecards as well.

I also love pinwheels! I've seen them used as a decor element, placecards, in lieu of tossing petals or rice, table numbers....the possibilities are endless!

Hope your Monday (and Tuesday!) were fun-filled.

Fabulous Friday Five List!

photo via etsy can be purchased here

It's a bit drizzly here in LA this morning - but I quite like it! I know the dog days of summer are are in our not-too-distant future, so I'm enjoying these last few days of cool mornings, overcast days, and chilly evenings. What a great excuse to continue to wear the fun trench coats I purchased this spring!

Additionally, it's Friday! And I have a weekend of no official duties or plans, except maybe an impromptu trip to the LB flea market, I'm at loose ends this weekend! Woohoo!

So, to kick-off what I envision to be a great weekend, here are five favorites from around the web:

Five things I love about this short film of model Coco Rocha's wedding: the dress! the location (France, of course)! The cinematography! Candles, candles, candles! The rain! Click here , sit back and enjoy!

The muted color palette of this wedding had me at hello! See all of the photos and a video on Style Me Pretty.

I found this wedding on the knot.com website - and it took place in my hometown of Glen Rose, Texas! Ahem, Glen Rose folks, if you're in need of a hometown wedding planner, go <here>!! :-)

If I were having bridesmaids, I'd put them in this pretty pewter dress.

Chunky wedding jewelry, or classic pearls? So many decisions, but thankfully enough time to make them before I have to put one on and walk down the aisle!

Happy Friday!!

Happy Birthday to my Favorite Auntie!!

Confession: I am horrible at remembering birthdays. Days, weeks, even months may pass before I think, "hey, it was *insert name here* birthday months ago. Ugh. I hate that feeling of forgetting. I really need to hire an assistant and her first job would be to keep me on track for birthdays and other special dates! It's not that I don't want to celebrate - I do!!! - it's simply that time gets away from me.

So here it is, my favorite aunt's birthday, and of course no card has been sent and no gift procured. However, I did at least remember on the correct date that today is the day!

So to my Aunt Donna - Happy HAPPY Birthday! You've been my biggest fan and most fervent supporter all of my life. We've survived both the good and the sad together. We laugh hard when we're together, and cry equally hard when we part. If we lived closer, I'd probably be at your house every day, drinking a Dr. Pepper and solving the problems of the world together! Most of my favorite childhood memories include you, from nail-painting parties to cooking up a storm while the world around us was hushed under a blanket of ice. When our worlds were devastated by the passing of loved ones way too soon, we clung to each other and somehow survived.

Thank you for always being there, and Happy, HAPPY Birthday to you!!!! I love you with all my heart.
